Staff:

Our caring staff is available through out the night to provide continuous treatment for your pet. If you have any questions regarding your pets condition, do not hesitate to call at any time for phone updates.

Discharge:

Hospitalized pets must be picked up before 8am, Monday through Friday. You will receive discharge instructions for your pets and medical records will be faxed to your regular veterinarian. Pets requiring further treatment or continued observation must be transferred back to your regular veterinarian.

Animal ER of San Diego (AERSD) has been serving the San Diego pet owner and veterinary community for over 15 years. AERSD is a full service animal hospital specializing in after-hours compassionate emergency and critical care. We are committed to provide you, your pet and your veterinary practitioner, the most comprehensive and professional companion animal urgent care available. We strive to provide a strong supportive and caring environment during moments of unexpected critical pet health care.

Our highly trained doctors, surgeons and veterinary technical specialists use caring professionalism and state-of the art equipment to address and treat your pet's emergent health issues. We have staff veterinarians, surgeons and nurses on site at all times during our hours of operation to perform examinations, diagnostics, surgical procedures and all other necessary treatments. Animal ER of San Diego provides 24 hours animal emergency and critical care on weekends and holidays. Animal ER of San Diego is open Monday to Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

Philosophy:

AERSD is an extension of your primary care veterinarian. We will provide emergency and supportive care until your veterinarian opens. Working together with your veterinarian, we provide your pet with the best emergency and intensive care.

Referrals:

We work closely with RDVM's to provide good continuity of care. If needed, and with your RDVM, our friendly staff can assist you in arranging an appointment with a Veterinary Specialist in the following fields; Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Radiology (Medical Diagnostic Imaging) and Soft Tissue Surgery.

Your daytime veterinarian is also a very important member of our team. Upon discharge a copy of your pet's medical record will be forwarded to your general practitioner.

Priorities:

Patients are usually seen on the first serve basis unless a life threatening problem occurs. Our staff will assess the condition of your pet to the doctor first, sometimes interrupting an examination already in progress. If you pet has a life threatening problem, he or she will be attended without delay.
